Anthony Rowe dreamed of coming to America as a boy growing up in Plymouth, England.

He planned to use his basketball skills to to make that dream come true.

At age 17, Rowe had three possible offers to play basketball for schools in New Hampshire.

When those offers fell through, Rowe was disheartened but was not about to give up.

Two years later, Rowe was playing against a team coached by NGCSU grad Mike Causey.

After seeing Rowe's skills as a shooter and rebounder, Causey encouraged Rowe to look at NGCSU for a basketball scholarship.

Rowe had sent DVDs to Division 1 and Division II schools in the hopes of landing a scholarship. The Division 1 schools dragged their feet while NGCSU offered right away to fly Rowe to Dahlonega.

Rowe made his first trip to NGCSU in March of 2005 and says he absolutely loved the area as well as the school.

NGCSU offered him a full basketball scholarship which he accepted beginning in Fall of 2005.

Rowe says it took some getting used to the difference in play here.

"The game moves much faster here," he said. "It is much more physical."

At 6-foot-7 inches, Rowe averages 9.3 rebounds and 12.1 points per game.

Rowe is scheduled to graduate this May with a Bachelors in Physical Education.

He plans to use his education as a backup for his real dream - a professional basketball career in Europe.

Rowe and The Saints can are next in action Saturday at 4pm against the UNC Pembroke Braves.
