NGCSU is inching closer to implementing off-campus dining options through the Campus Cash program.
Jeffrey Davis, the NGCSU Associate Vice President for Facilities, and Jackie Barnaby, manager of the Campus Card Office, have partnered to enhance the purchasing power of the Campus Cash system.
Many universities in Georgia already have designed campus card debit programs like the one being considered here at North Georgia.
The push for such a system has been led by the students here at NGCSU. However, the community and school will both be able to profit from such a program.
Of course, participating merchants will have to consider such things as buying a card reader, and the costs for the software needed, but Davis is positive the debit system will be nothing but beneficial to everyone once all the kinks are worked out.
Davis has made several proposals to local restaurants, including Shane's and Moe's, and hopes to receive positive feedback concerning the idea of a university operated debit system known as Blackboard.
Davis describes Blackboard as a "state of the art data management system which will allow the students to manage their funds easily online, simply by logging into their account with their ID number."
Barnaby stated that she was "truly excited about the new Blackboard system, and hopes that students will do their part in making the project a success."
Both Davis and Barnaby expect the Blackboard debit system to be put into effect within the next few months.

Include campus cash as a way of replenishing the printing fee ($.03/page). Has anyone tried to use the machine at the Cyber Cafe entrance to replenish their print account? It is cumbersome, awkward and in most cases unavailable. (Continued…)
