The Fifth Annual Hemlockfest Music Festival will be at Starbridge Retreat near Dahlonega Nov. 6-8.
The benefit to fight the woolly adelgid parasites that are killing the hemlock trees will have local musicians entertaining the crowd.
The Hemlockfest is a three-day family friendly musical event held at a private resort in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. You can come for a day or camp out for the weekend enjoying food and drinks, shop at booths, and watch demonstrations of traditional handicrafts and skills.
Twenty bands from Georgia, North Carolina, and even west Georgia will be playing all weekend. Atlanta's Soulhound, Mudcat, and the Dot Line Projekt are three of the six bands starting the event on Friday night.
All day Saturday, nine bands, including West Virginia's David Lafleur, The Family Honor and Gold Rush, will be playing a variety of music including bluegrass, blues, rock and funk.
Headlining Saturday night are Col. Bruce Hampton and the Quark Alliance, who will bring an eclectic mix of rock, rhythm, jazz and blues. Unifire Dance Theater will awe the crowds with their fire dancing.
Sunday will highlight the Solstice Sisters from Athens and Emerald Rose, a Celtic folk and rock band from Dahlonega.
