Will Wade, senior vice president of First Citizen's Bank of Georgia (FCBG) and a North Georgia alumnus, addressed approximately 80 students and faculty on Oct. 8 in the Library Technology Center.
Over the last 10 years, Wade served in several leadership positions in the banking industry.
Wade told the audience that like other banks, FCBG offers a variety of financial products and services. But that's where the similarities end.
FCBG has a strong marketing orientation, he said. Bank officials understand that the "life blood" of their business is customers who are "delighted" with their services.
Marketing plays a crucial role in serving and growing their client base. According to Wade, it begins with "knowing their customers' needs and wants." The bank has a well-defined target market.
The owners and employees of FCBG represent the most important element of its integrated marketing program. The owners of FCBG are local business professionals with deep roots in the community.
Employees are carefully selected, trained and empowered to provide caring and personal service.
The Cottrell Speaker Series will continue on Oct. 22 with Henry Ferris, Director of Merchandise Marketing for Home Depot.
The lecture will be held in the Library Technology Center's Special Collections Room (362) from 9:30-11 a.m.
Michael Galanis is a junior majoring in marketing.
