Bob Barker hosted the show for 35 years before retiring in 2007. Many of us remember watching the Price is Right growing up, hearing "Come on down!!", and we know the beeping noise the wheel makes when the showcase contestants spin it.
Thursday, Oct. 22 the Sigma Chi fraternity recreated the classic game in order to raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation.
Sigma Chi's Martin Erbele dressed up as Barker and used similar lines from the original show.
Dan Fifer acted as the announcer who describes prizes, showcases and calls contestants to "come on down."
The Sigma Chi brothers built a showcase wheel and constructed their own versions of classic games such as Hole in One, Hi Lo, Switch?, and Plinko. Random students and faculty members were selected and called to down bid on certain items. As usual, the closest guess to the actual price went on stage to play the Price is Right.
The fundraiser event was a big hit with the students and faculty members in attendance.
All the money Sigma Chi raised went towards cancer research. The brothers of Sigma Chi stressed that no money raised will go towards someone's paycheck, that all of it is for research.
Sigma Chi's Price is Right was not only entertaining, it was for a great cause. With such success, Sigma Chi will most likely make this fundraiser an annual event.
