The Chinese New Year is around the corner and NGCSU plans on celebrating in a big way.
Although the actual New Year is not until Feb. 14, the school will be celebrating the event on Saturday, Feb. 13. Events will be held in the Hoag Auditorium in the Student Center's from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The celebration will open with games that are popular in China, including Chinese Yo-Yo and shuttlecock. Later, there will be a Chinese speech contest. Participants will also get to sample free Chinese food.
"The celebration will be a great way for students to learn more about Chinese culture, and, if you're a student of the Chinese language, you will get to practice your conversational skills with high school students also learning the language," Dr. Yan Gao, associate professor of Chinese at North Georgia, said of the event.
About 40 Hall County high school students who are taking Chinese have been invited to the celebration.
If you are taking Chinese this semester, this is a must. Anyone interested in Chinese culture or fun is encouraged to come.
Don't forget: there will be free Chinese food.
