The Things That Keep Me Up at Night
"Do not walk on the grass" signs
Katy Crawford
Issue date: 2/26/10 Section: Entertainment
Everyone has seen them: signs that say "Do not walk to the grass."
But how do these signs get there without at least one person having to walk across the precious lawn?
Perhaps before the sod was put down someone placed the sign in the dirt and the grass was planted around the sign.
Perhaps someone has built a cherry picker-like device that can reach over the lawn far enough for the sign to be placed in the correct location.
Maybe the infamous hoverboards from "Back to the Future II" have been invented. The worker simply hovers over the grass to plant the sign.
Unless we are willing to stake out a future "Do not walk on the grass" signed area, we will never know how they actually get there. But it remains something that keeps me up at night.
