The Lady Saints added to their perfect season last week, winning seven straight in three days.
Competing in the University of Alabama-Huntsville Charger Chillout, North Georgia continued its dominance over the opposition and improved to 11-0 on the season. In the process of adding to its win column, North Georgia outscored opponents 49-12.
Junior Sarah Phillips earned Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time in a season just three weeks old.
In the first day of competition, North Georgia swept Western Kentucky, Arkansas Tech and Indianapolis, 8-0, 9-8, 10-0, respectively. Phillips logged two wins and freshman Lauren Dykes and senior Leslee Smith combined for 18 runs batted in.
West Alabama and Arkansas-Monticello stepped into the ring against the Lady Saints and fell 9-0 and 6-2, respectively. Phillips earned two more wins and added 12 strikeouts in those two games.
In the final day of competition, North Georgia faced Wayne State and North Alabama. Wayne State proved to be a tough test, pushing the Lady Saints to nine innings before a 4-1 final. Phillips pitched all nine innings in her seventh win of the year.
North Georgia finished the tournament 3-1 with a victory over North Alabama as Dykes got her second win on the mound.
North Georgia comes home Feb. 28 for a doubleheader against Queens University.
