Just How Safe is Our Campus?

In the month of February, NGCSU experienced a number of reported theft, property interference, substance abuse, threats and altercations. Here is a sampling of some of those incidents.
Criminal Interference with Government Property
On Jan. 29, an unknown person broke one of the basement windows in Barnes Hall. No signs of entry were found.
On Feb. 22, NGCSU officers responded to a call in Gaillard Hall. Two students claimed they could not access their room so they kicked the door open, destroying the lock and door.
Reported Thefts
A student in Sirmons Hall reported a stolen laptop and video game on Feb. 8.
Drug Use/Substance Abuse
An NGCSU officer responded to a report of alcohol in a dorm room in Owen Hall at 1:59 a.m., Feb. 28. The officer discovered that student over 21 possessed the alcohol and an underage student had consumed it.
On Feb. 28, an officer was requested to respond to Lewis Hall Annex in reference to possible drug usage. This incident is still under investigation.
An underage student was arrested at the Military Leadership Center for underage possession and consumption of alcohol on the morning of Feb. 26.
Disorderly Conduct, Altercations
At 2 a.m. on Feb. 6, officers responded to a Lumpkin County 911 call about an altercation in progress. Officers determined that one subject was struck in the face, though persons present attempted to obstruct officers by making false statements.
