Summer songs.
We all have them.
There are some songs we'd rather not mention to anyone else, and some we will sing at the top of our lungs with the windows down while the person next to us looks on in bewilderment and disgust.
Embarrassing or not, they take us back to a time that makes us smile and remember the great times shared with family and friends.
These are my summer songs that take me back to sunny days and long summer nights.
One of my favorite summer songs is "The Boys of Summer" by Don Henley.
When I was 5, my mom had this little Fiero with a T-top. On our way to Lake Lanier Islands Beach and Water Park, we would rewind the cassette over and over.
The entire song is catchy and begs to be sung over and over. The song never gets old.
I could explain why the song is so good by using the usual cliches, but they won't do the song justice.
Another song I'll never forget is "Wonderwall" by Oasis.
The song was released the year my brother turned 16 and he got his license that summer. It was the song I always insisted on when we got in the car.
Every time the acoustic guitar kicks in, I still bob my head.
It's on my iPod, and it will probably be the first thing played as I walk out of class to start my summer break.
So let's enjoy the summer and sing our summer songs.
